I started learning ceramics at evening classes in order to make buttons and beads for my textiles and felt making.
I then spent a lot of time with my dad, learning Raku and I was hooked!
I love the excitement of Raku as I never know how the glaze will look after the final firing.

I take the pieces up to a high temperature, and then take them very carefully out of the kiln and cover them with sawdust before plunging them into water - the shock of the temperature change creates the unique and unpredictable finish - very exciting!

Having a studio in my garden enables me to balance work, family, friends and other commitments with my creativity.
